Trip To Sematan

(DEATH LAND)
On 26/3/09 (Thursday), although today is not a holiday, me and my friends have decided to go fishing at Sematan. This is my 1st time ever be in Sematan, it took us about 1 1/2 hour to reach Lundu, and another 15 minutes to reach Sematan at a average speed of 90km/h. During the journey, you can see many padi field and kampung. There are still quite a numbered of resident still lived in very bad condition, that is without pipe water and electricity, and living in small and atap house. Besides that, you may also see many 'DEATH LAND' along the road, and landslide can be seen as the cause of over cutting of trees. But there are good news, after they cut down the trees, they do plan trees back to the land. It is just the matter of time for the small trees to grow.
This is the picture that we almost reach Lundu, the mountain is known as Gunung Gading (National Park).

Before we reach Lundu (town), we arrived at a group of stall where different kind of keropok and biscuit were sold, we bought about 10 types of keropok and biscuits that we were seldom seen in Kuching as snack during our fishing.

Finally, we arrived at Lundu. We decide to go buy some fishs and prawns as bait for our fishing. Then we go to their fish market, and we saw certain types of fish that you may never find in Kuching, like black spot squild, and shark looked fish.

as big as an arm. shark's skin. sold at the fish market.

Lundu's Sarawak Laksa.
After buying the bait, we go explore the town. The town's pattern is more or less like Sri Aman, its size is smaller than Sri Aman, but Sri Aman is more advance compare to Lundu. During the explore, we were attracted by price of the food there, because it is much cheaper than Kuching. Laksa only costs RM3 and mixed sup noodles (quite much) costs RM 2.50 only. At first, I try the mixed sup noodles and I was quite full after finishing it, but I still ordered the laksa there altough I can't really finish it. 'Long long one time' ma, is ok de.The conclusion is the food's taste at Lundu is bitter than the food in Kuching, but the price is much cheaper.

The Sign of Sematan Town. Shops that were build 'Small Light House'
around 1950.
Finally, we reached Sematan. The town there is very small, it is smaller then Bau and Saratok. You can see shops that were made during 1950's. There is a small 'Light House' at the shore to help fisherman in returning. When we arrived, we decide to go explore the town, there are a stall that sells bag exactly like the stlye of Kuching's Sunday Market. There are majority of the shops selling fishing equipment, as the town known as one of the best fishing place in Sematan. There is only one shop sells handicraft/gift. Sea shell made '风铃'.

Then, we began our fishing...
